Good comparison,

I am still puzzled, if someone knows Java very well, what is the benefit of investing time in learning scala .

Code being concise: I understand that Scala code is much more concise than Java but that benefit is moving away with Java introducing functional way of writing code.

For me apart than lazy loading benefit there is nothing extraordinary which Scala is providing, for which someone need to spend time to learn Scala.

On operator overloading benefit, when we choose programming language at very early stage, its very difficult to say that this advantage of scala will really be useful or not.

My question is, does scala provide greater benefits over Java when used in data heavy projects?
